Eastleigh derailment, Network Rail criticised.

A train derailment happened after Network Rail failed to effectively detect track faults, accident investigators have found.

Six wagons came off the track at Eastleigh, Hampshire, in January 2020, blocking the line and damaging equipment.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) said Network Rail needed a strategy to prevent a repeat.

Poor old NR. They're well over £50bn in debt.

You could understand if their infrastructure maintenance had fallen behind (not that I'm saying for a moment that this is the case).

The more I travel round the UK by rail, admittedly by YouTube cab rides, the more I realise the enormity of the task Network Rail has.
