Hi and welcome to the forum Ray. The Fellsman runs every wednesday through Blackburn to Carlisle, and returns in the evening, so there are two chances for you to photograph it. Timings can be found here: http://www.uksteam.info/tours/index.htm
If you are in the Whitby area, I would suggest you visit the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
They also have an extensive website that you should find interesting.
Regards Mike.

Welcome to the forum Ray. There are many heritage railways dotted around the uk including the East Lancs near you. Great railway and plenty of steam. Two great "bookazines" that include a comprehensive and detailed guide to our heritage railways are Steam Railways Of Britain and British Steam Preserved. You should find both very useful to enable you to find good places to photograph the locos.
Good look with your hobby and hope to see some of your shots in the gallery.
All the best
Phil

Welcome to the Forum Ray. Hope you have a good holiday in the Whitby area and get plenty of Steam photos. Don't forget to post some on this Forum.

A day on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a must!
