knocking on farish 'n' class 33 ??

Hi Does anyone have an idea, as to why my class 33 is making a heavy knocking sound in both directions? it isnt brand new and china made version, not the poole version. Could be the gearing, but any help would be great.
thanks Mark.

Sounds like it could be a split gear. I believe this is a common problem with earlier locos.
