Zontar

I don't know if many of you know about this but the guys who own Deltic 55022 Royal Scots Grey have invented a character called Zontar, who is a fag smoking alien, to help them raise funds to maintain their loco and there are several products of his that you can buy, plus he has made a load of videos that appear on both You Tube and their own website, www.babydeltic.com. These videos are definately not for the faint hearted or the Mary Whitehouse brigade, but if you aren't averse to a bit of "adult" humour then you may enjoy what they have to offer.

Here's a video where he has fun with the first ever class 31. Be prepared for a bit of bad language though.

Yes it certainly is an acquired taste.

Mrs Foggy quite enjoyed "Zontar does his bit for the environment" and found it quite amusing.

Fortunately she didn't get to see "Zontar and the haunted brothel" !! (I found it so disgraceful that I had to watch it three times to be sure )

I'm not really sure who is helping who?
Looking at the "babydeltic.com" website I get the impression that these guys are more interested in becoming famous film makers. Does Zontar really contribute towards the upkeep of Deltic 55022 or is this great loco just a convenient film set for these frustrated Spielbergs?

I think its a bit of both to be honest. They are having a laugh making the videos and stuff, but they also make money selling Zontar stuff like T shirts and DVD's and the like. It looks to me like they have a great time doing this stuff and for me there's nothing wrong with that as long as no one is getting hurt. Some of the stuff is very close to the knuckle even for me, but who am I to judge.

Went on the web site. Very nice indeed. Thought the gallery was brilliant. Nicest pair of air horns I have seen in a long time.

Paul.

I just came across this myself, if I may be permitted to bump the thread.

>_>

Am I the only one who found it completely confusing? I can appreciate younger guy's attempts to make things more appealing to the younger generation but that was just bizzare.

An alien, drinking a can of Stella Artois, smoking a cigarette, on a Deltic.

The mind boggles.

I must agree with you there, sometimes I get a bit bored trying to follow whats happening next with these arty farty sites.
I'm a black and white film man myself.
Then again it would'nt do for us all to like the same thing.
Paul.

I agree he is the most bizzare character, but then characters do need to be off the beaten path more these days to get noticed. I reckon there's definately a twisted mind or two amongst his creators, but the bottom line here is that he's obviously very successful in both giving 55022 a higher profile and also raising badly needed coffers for the upkeep of the loco, so I say more power to their elbows.

Cheers. Ewan.
