The 31s are one of the best looking first generation diesels. In the 80s I used to travel down to Carlisle from Edinburgh and they would usually work the Leeds-Carlisle trains. Never heard of any travelling to Scotland. Just out of interest does anyone know if any of them ever worked north of the border in the 80s?
