Enfield Lock Station

From the back garden of our house I can see Enfield Lock Station on the Liverpool Street to Cambridge line. Years ago when firing on L1s on Hertford East runs we used to stop at this station. Sometimes waiting for the crossing gates to open there would be crowds of cyclists mostly travelling to and from Enfield Smallarms factory.

There was a signalbox at the end of the platform where the signalman used to turn a big wheel to operate the level crossing gates. Those days have now gone there's not many bikes (mostly cars now) and the signalbox is also long gone. I think the crossing gates are now operated by someone sitting in an office at Liverpool Street.

Until the closure of Brimsdown Box, I believe you to be right here Smokeyjoe. The Smallarms factory I understand was owned by BSA, hence Birmingham Small Arms and later of Motorcycle fame?
