virgin loco hauled service

Does anyone know when the 90 hauled service from Euston to Preston in starting. ?

Think it's meant to be the 1623 service, should have started on the 26/1.

Apparently due to the ongoing engineering works on the line vt and lm have had to withdraw some services until the beginning of February. The 16:33 to Preston loco hauled has been included in this:

Hope this helps.

Suppose so. There are still some speed restrictions around the Weaver Jn area and the new VHF frequency service doesn't leave much/any room for manoevre if something goes wrong.

Have they said they will make an announcement when this service starts?

That would be the 1758 off Stafford would it not ? I can catch that every day to Crewe ! I didn't know it was going to be class 90 hauled. But no doubt it will be full of "haulage freaks" !

I'll let you know when it starts...

This should be the 1846 Euston to Preston, set-down only all the way with first stop Tamworth IIRC. Was a 221 last week due to the posted reason by the other gentleman. Date of beginning unknown for this sadly.

Isn't this service using Cargo-D MK3s, due to VWCs WB64 set being sold off. Virgin said they didn't need them, Porterbrook sell them off, only for Virgin to turn around and change their mind!

the extra trains are now scheduled to start next Monday (Feb 16th). I'll have a look at the 1758 ex Stafford on Monday (ifd it's not too late), but am then away for the next couple of days.

Bad News - arrived at Stafford station 1733, no 1758 listed

Good News - 1750 announcement "tonight there will be an extra train at 1756 to Crewe, Warrington, Wigan, Preston

Bad News - it was a Pendolino

Good News - it was virtually empty

Even better news - Stafford to Crewe in maybe as little as 15 mins ! [Forgot to notice exact time leaving Stafford, certainly not before 1758, and arrived Crewwe 1814] Best time I've ever done in over 2 years daily travel, due to no crossing back and forth to the slow line, no signal check outside Crewe, no using a 20mph crossover to reach platform 11.

Good job the train was running because nothing else was ! All trains stopped between Stafford and Wolves due to a bridge strike ...

By chance on this train again tonight. 16mins 2sec Stafford - Crewe start to stop. Quickest I've ever done it.

On the down side

1. train was fuller - mainly with people addicted to talking on mobile phones in loud voices ! [ Couldn't use quiet coach because I was on call ]

2. delayed by 5 mins from Stafford due to lte running Birmingham - Glasgow being signalled onto fast line directly in front of Euston - Crewe - Manchester which had to slow virtually to a stop.
