2 car Class 444?

Newbie here. I'm genuinely confused about a simple operation which has been caught nicely by google maps.

It occurs just north of Poole station (adjacent to the carriage sidings).

Why would a 5 car SWT class 444 run with only 2 vehicles? It seems very strange. And it is (by the fact it is on the down line) running toward weymouth, can anyone think of a reason that it might be doing so? There are no (as far as i'm aware) maintenance facilities in that direction.

If it is a cropping error by google then it is a very impressive one to cut the train off at exactly the correct point
