Firstly, what are you modelling? You must have some idea. Time period? Place?

Secondly, you may wish to ask this on a Railway Modelling forum rather than a Railway forum. The chances are you would get a more varied and possibly better response.

Type in 'Railway Forums' on google and some should appear.

Hi Michael and welcome to the forum.
Please tell us about your modelling interests. I see from your introduction that you already have an HO layout and are planning a Märklin one. Will this be HO as well or are you planning to build a Märklin Z gauge layout?
I know that Hornby (International) and Bachmann do produce HO models but are you possibly thinking of British coaches from these manufacturers which are OO?

Hi Michael,

Welcome to the Forum.

I have not had a problem with the quality and wieght of Hornby and Bachmann coaches and wagons. The detail on some of the earlier Hornby stock is not so good, although it is amazing the difference changing the couplings to the small tension lock variety makes.

The more recent stock from Hornby is superb and there is now not a lot to choose between the two. I run a mixture anyway.

Best wishes,

John H-T.

PS there are quitre a few of us into railway modelling on this forum and the quality of the posts is at least as high as the more specialist forums and often more balanced!

Welcome to the Forum Michaelbird. We have a number of modelers on the forum but as Hairyhandedfool and Swisstrains have said, we need more information as to your plans before we can help. If you have a good model shop in your area they may also be of help as to the best for your requirements.
