Diesel and Electric traction in Romania

Hello my dear friends, I came on this forum to represent Romania, my native country and introduce you to our locomotives.First I will post some movies from my youtube channel and I will also leave a short description about the locomotives.

In this video you will see an InterCity train from Budapest Keleti to Bucharest entering Sinaia train station. The locomotive is 41-0105-1 ( the Electric locomotive built in Craiova at ElectroPutere has a power of 5100Kw about 6500 horsepower and it is a plant on wheels, it was built unde license from ASEA Switzerland at Craiova with a high number of locomotives entering mass production in the comunism under the rule of Nicolae Ceausescu)

Here you can see and InterRegio train from Timisoara to Bucharest leaving Sibiu Train station, the locomotive is a 2100 horsepower locomotive, it has GM motor placed on a Class 60/62 platform, the production of these new types of locomotives was a great achivement for ElectroPutere Craiova, they wanted to update the old diesel locomotive, the Sulzer was the perferct platform for the new GM motor and the auxilary units.

Hello RoRailSystems and welcome to the forum. Interesting videos and nice to see it looking quite modern since the Communist era! Do you still have steam locomotives at all?
Anyway enjoy and all the best
Phil

Sadly we have only a few steam engines, but they are for narrow track, I will post a movie about the steam engines in Valea Vaserului, near Baia Mare ( in north-western transilvanya, near the border with Hungary ). They have attractive packages for tourists giving them food in an old restaurant car and also a place to sleep in a sleeping car.

The movie does not belong to me.

Hello RoRailSystems and welcome to the Railway Forum. I enjoyed the film on the narrow gauge steam railway. I have not seen a loco fired with both wood and coal before. We had some old wood burners in Rhodesia, but there is no shortage of good quality coal in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) where as there was a shortage of wood, and what was there would burn up in next to no time.

As promised before I will show you mostly all of our locomotives in Romania and a brief description about them.
We had a magical month of december, plenty of snow here in Sibiu and the most important thing, the trains were not delayed due to heavy weather. In the next picture you will see a regional train ( 6 wagons ) pulled by a diesel locomotive LDE2100CP the work horse of the Romanian Railways. Entering mass production in 1959, until 1991 when the production stoped, there were build about 2400 locomotives.
As a personal opinion this locomotives are very powerful, reliable in the weather condintions that we encounter in Romania, and ofcourse the steep climbs in the Romanian infrastructure.
