MERSEYRAIL EMUs

Are there any former Merseyrail units preserved i.. BUnits that where inop Before 507/8s ?

There's a pair of the former LMS stock preserved,they were in Southport's rail museum painted in LMS red. I seem to remember reading about them now being at some army barracks out of harm's way

When at Southport they were in working condition and even worked some railtours on the 3rd rail mid 80s I think.
But with the move from Southport to Preston there was no room for them.
Even though they are an NRM item they have since deteriorated to near scrap condition.
Unsure at the moment as to present location but there has been talk about them elsewhere.

The Class 502 unit is still under the NRM banner but it is being restored by the Friends of the 502 group at Tebay.

This is the state of it now.

Heartbreaking isnt it.

They set the design for later units and were in service for forty years
