Couldn't agree more about the TOCS. Surely the D for T shouldn't be dishing out franchises to outfits that think they can just cancel services on a Sunday because, by their own incompetence, they have no staff to run them. They should be subjected to very severe financial penalties for not delivering the proper service for which they were contracted. If, and it's a very big if, we have a privatised railway system, the companies must be very closely controlled. For the first time, we have a Secretary of State who appears to understand what he is doing but he must get a grip and not allow these cowboys to get away with it.

They keep banging on about the bad old days, but when everything was under one control, it was more accountable. I know all systems are open to abuse, but there are too many outfits out there playing at trains.
