Crossrail and Southampton

(Slight smug mode when I beat Robot Feed News to breaking stories )

The big news for us in Southern UK is that Crossrail has been given the go ahead, which is about time too.

Also, there was excitment on the local TV news about the upgrading of the Tunnel next to Southamton Central to take the new taller shipping containers that currently have to go by road out of Southampton. Another piece of Victorian infrastructure is going to be dug out "causing delays to Southampton commuters for up to two years". ---- Dig a brand new tunel next to the old one to "Berne Gauge", I say

It may not seem like it but perhaps another few decade of railway investment at this rate might reverse some of the negelect of the railway infrastructure over last 100 years
