Good morning everyone. I am a new member, I joined yesterday Saturday.
As you might guess by my user name, I am a definate fan of the Stanier class 8 locomotive, a wonderful hard working engine, but of course in the steam days all the steam engines were hard working and are sadly missed today, but a lot of us have our preferences. I hope to be around on here a lot now, I do have quite a lot of time on my hands as I am now retired. Well retired from work but "her who must be obeyed" keeps me busy around the house ![]() 48111 |

Well because for a start 48111 was a Stanier class 8...brilliant and secondly the same engine was for a time a local engine in the 50s shedded at Nuneaton.

Hi 48111, welcome to the forum. As one who wasn't around for BR steam, I can say that the 8Fs are impressive locos in preservation, but must have been even more impressive doing the job they were built for!
Regards, Tony. |
