Extra railway line hopes dashed (BBC News)

A campaign to improve the railway line between Kemble and Swindon fails to be included in Network Rail's business plans.

Somehow I always thought that this would be the end result - expect a lot more news of this type in the future due to the current economic situation.

Will the current economic situation be used as an excuse to cancel a lot more planned railway projects?
