After 126 before the 47's !

After 126 before the 47's !

I understand the Class 126's stopped running the Ayrshire services in around 1982. What traction succeeded them on Girvan/Stranraer services, Class 101? The 47's came back in 1984 I believe until
October 1988.

That's an interesting question. Unfortunately the time slot coincides with my hiatus from the railway scene, but I would hazard a guess at 37's?

Class 27's were also used on this route in the 1980's.

A mixture of loco hauled 27's and dmu's of 101 and 107.

Not completely on topic, but I read the other day that during the days of the 'Condor' freight service, Class 28 Co-Bo's were sometimes used on suburban services during their daytime layover. Perhaps they even got used on the Ayrshire service?
