The West Coast Main Line cuts the county in two.Check the line out on Google Earth.There are many places to shoot.There is a popular spot at Alder Lane, Winwick on the WCML. The overhead lines can be a problem.

You could try the East Lancashire Railway, that is a heritage line.
And The Keighley - Worth valley line is a good place as well. If you travel, Hellifield is good once the Settle - Carlisle line gets back to regular steam specials.
