Post Returned to the hobby.
Good evening!
I've returned to the hobby after a 20+ year break.
Reading some of the posts on here about access to platforms and permission to take photographs I'm just a little unsettled.
I can remember the days when 'spotters' were welcome at any station; I used to collect platform tickets even though most staff just waved us through the barrier. One of my 'prize' platform tickets was for London Victoria Station. The platform ticket machine was out of order that day so a guard wrote one out for me on am excess fare ticket - 'Access to Platforms Only' and the date.

Welcome back.

Maybe things have changed, but perhaps people only post their bad experiences. You dont get 1000s of posts saying "Took photos today - no problem"

But I suppose you do have to be a little bit more carefull just in case

Don't know what it is about railways, but out of all my interests, railways has ALWAYS been the consistant one, must be something in it then!
