Mid-Hants DMUs

Not knowing a lot about these, I had a ride on one at the mid-Hants over the weekend (pics in the gallery) and wondered what class they where and what engines they are? They reminded me of Cummins 7-Litre bus units, but perhaps someone here knows?

I have to admit I'm one of these people who can't tell the difference between a lot of the first generation DMU's, however if I had to hazard a guess from memory I'd say it was either Class 117 or 107, leaning towards 117.

I couldn't say what engine's those units had though, I know some similar DMU's had Leyland engines, I think.

The Mid Hants runs a Class 117 DMU.I think they can run it as a 4 car set. There is also a Class 122 single car unit that can run in tamden with the Class 117 set.

Ah, that's what it was then. It had one single car and one driving coach. The rest of the unit was in the paint shop. Sounds great!

Would be fitted with either Leyland 680 or Leyland 1595.
