Newbie with question :)
Hi all! firstly I'm quite new to to rail, and have particular interests in high speed rail and maglev
 I'm currently researching HSR, in particular the construction methods used, and how they differ between countries, however apart from wikipedia I cant find any information on construction methods, and how the land is prepared for rail  . Can anyone recommend any good websites or databases? Any help appreciated Cheers Frank

Thanks for the responses, I'm just a bit baffled as to why there is no readily available information on this. I have access to construction databases and can get details about road/airport construction so I don't see why there are no guidelines/methods around

The scientific discipline involved in railway construction is known as "Soil Mechanics." I dont know if that helps at all.
I did try "railway soil mechanics" in Google and the returns for "high speed railway soil mechanics" look interesting.
