The suggestion that Brixham should be rail connected is a joke!
The original track bed between Churston and Brixham (2miles) is almost completely built over. The original station in Brixham was at the top of a very steep hill approximately 500 feet above the harbour which was the nearest point that the railway could get to the town. All journeys involved a change at Churston in order to reach Torquay and Newton Abbot. Goods trains had to reverse at Churston as the branch connection faced Kingwear.
Can you imagine anyone loading a van at the fish dock, taking a stiff climb to the station, load onto train for two mile trip to Churston, transfer to Northbound train? In the time taken, the van could drive to Newton Abbot!
There is also a problem that the existing track from Churston to Paignton belongs to the Dart Valley Railway.
