Hi Daniel,
I was 19 when I passed out as a fireman on the Rhodesian Railways back in the 60's. I know that people think that the driver is the plum job but I always thought that all he did was to start & stop the train. Yes there were a few other things the driver has to do and know how to deal with, BUT it is the fireman that creates the steam and power to enable the driver to move the engine/train. Stick with it mate and watch and learn from the driver. After all he was once a fireman as well. Syd |
