What to become of TOPs?

Hello
I wasn't quite sure which forum to put this in. but TOPs is all to do with diesel and electric locomotives so I suppose it's right.
Here are a few things that I would like to know about the TOPs system:

1: aren't they running out of space? The 0XX series of diesel and elecric locos has already got to 92, and the 3XX series has got to 395 already. What will happen when they get to 100 and 400? Will they have to think up a new system and renumber all the trains? That would be a nightmare for all us trainspotters! we'd have to re-learn all the class numbers!

2: It doesn't seem like the TOPs system is very logical. They've put a HST (class 43) lower than a Warship (Class 52)! what's the logic in that?

This last question is not to do with TOPs but I couldn't be bothered to make a whole new post for it.

3: can you couple a pendolino MU to a locomotive and still have the MU tilting?

No rush on the answers.

I'd just like to know.

Same power classification as a warship, ( they were class 42 and 43), probably because the power cars are regarded as individual locomotives not multiple units.
That would be my guess.
No idea about the pendothingy though I am afraid

theres loads of blanks still...I think it will run for a while yet...(BTW TOPS isnt just about loco/unit numbers so maybe you should re-name the thread TOPS numbering or similar

18,19,32,36,38,39,49,51,54,58,61,62,63,64,65,68,69 ,75,78,79,93,94,95,96, at least are unused and several others havent been used for years and could be re-used.
