Transpennine Express cuts back Manchester to Preston service
Transpennine Express have now published the timetables for the Manchester Airport to Blackpool/Cumbria/Scotland from Dec 9.
As of the 9th Dec there will be three trains every hour between Manchester and Preston (Currently there are 7 every two hours.) Trains to and from Windermere will either be attached to a Blackpool service between Manchester Airport and Preston, or will start and terminate at Preston. However, passengers using Manchester Oxford Road, Salford Crescent or Chorley stations will get the same number of trains to Preston as before because the Manchester Airport to Edinburgh and Glasgow services will additionally call at those stations. Although, surprisingly trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Edinburgh or Glasgow should be slightly quicker than with Virgin Trains. |

A quote from the TP express website
"Book now to take advantage of: Four services every weekday between Manchester and Edinburgh. Manchester to Glasgow or Edinburgh from as little as £10 each way Three services every weekday between Manchester and Glasgow. S tate of the art trains providing a more comfortable ride. " So they aren't going to use 185s on that route then? Otherwise they could not claim they will provide a more comfortable ride, with the trains currently running the service being Voyager trains. |
