InterCity 125 v Hitachi.
A new Japanese train is arriving on British shores to replace the much loved InterCity 125. Will people take it to their hearts in the way they did its veteran predecessor?

125's much loved? When and by whom? Statistically they are very reliable even after 40 years' service but why is it that whenever I have been on one, the odds on a breakdown suddenly drop to 50/50? They have kept services going since Adam was a lad but the time has come for a modern replacement. The Triumph TR7 and Vauxhall Chevette were introduced in the same year, the only places to see them now is at specialist rallies.
