New Hobby!

Hello everyone!
70013 - Oliver Cromwell came to visit us at the weekend, to celebrate 150 years of the Brighton to Seaford line, and 150 years since Seaford station opened.

The locomotive was a sight to behold, and very beautiful. The feeling of excitement upon hearing the first few 'puffs' then some steam, the sound of the horn, followed by the beautiful engine itself is something I will never forget!

I've taken some nice pictures, and had a good vantage point at the station (thanks to a very kind station master lady) and have myself a new and exciting interest....

Here are a couple of pictures that I would like to share with you:

Nice one.

I recognise the location of your video, I stayed in the caravan site Easter 2006.

Ah yes, that's the Buckle caravan park. Nice site.

I'm taking my caravan to Corfe castle at the beginning of July and intend to visit Swanage railway. Are there any scenic places that could be recommended to photograph some locomotives?

Welcome to the forum Simon. Good to have another Sussex-based member on here! I saw Oliver Cromwell at Hastings on Saturday & also the Black 5 No.44932 the following day.
Enjoy your trip to Corfe Castle - I've only taken photos from the stations on the Swanage Railway and haven't been for a long time, but there appear to be great photo opportunities from Corfe Castle (the castle itself) overlooking the railway. There's also a small car park on the A351, just to the north of Corfe Castle with a footpath leading from it up to the railway - I had a look there on a day when the trains weren't running. The other popular & easily accessible location is where the A351 crosses the railway a little futher southeast from Corfe Castle, particularly looking back towards Corfe Castle.
Look forward to seeing some of your photos in the gallery on this forum.

Regards,
Tony
