TRAIN DRIVER NARROWLY ESCAPES INJURY AFTER BRICK HURLED THROUGH WINDSCREEN – BURLEY PARK, LEEDS

Officers from British Transport Police are appealing for information following an incident that took place last night, Thursday 6 December. A brick was thrown through a train windscreen, narrowly avoiding the driver.

The train involved was the 19.30 York to Leeds Northern Rail service, which has been passing under a bridge on the approach to Burley Park railway station near Leeds at the time of the incident.

A brick smashed through the windscreen, luckily the driver was not injured.

British Transport Police were informed of the incident and searched the area but to no avail.

PC John Hill of British Transport Police said.

“This was a reckless act of vandalism which could have badly injured or even killed the driver of the train. It’s vital that we find those responsible so we can highlight the potential consequences of such irresponsible behaviour. I cannot emphasise strongly enough the dangers associated with this type of crime.”

“I would urge anyone who was in the area around 19.30hrs last night, if they saw anything suspicious or have any information that may help the investigation, to contact BTP on freefone 0800 405040 quoting incident number 593 of 6 December."

No, this isnt "vandalism". It is assault, attempted assault, attempted GBH, or whatever and should be be treated by the police as such.

How about attempted MURDER!!!!!!!

We, (train crews), are just ordinary people out doing a job of work to support our famillies, I often wonder how the parents of these scroats would feel if we went to their place of work and started lobbing bricks etc at them. The other thing I would like to do is to take these little, (sometimes not so little), idiots to their parents place of work in the company of a uniformed BTP officer and embarrass the hell out of them

Les
