China on Thursday rolled off the production line a prototype magnetic-levitation train with a designed top speed of 600 km per hour in the eastern city of Qingdao (The World News Monitor).

It would be interesting to compare the Maglev infrastructure costs with HS2. I'd guess HS2 is going to cost the same but with cheaper rolling stock.
