Hornby try to steal Bachmann's Thunder!
With Bachmann due to announce their plans for the next 18 months, Hornby obviously thought they would try and spoil the fun by making some surprise anouncements of their own!:
http://www.hornby.com/news-events/su...10,71,HNS.html They may have slipped up. One of their announcements is for a GNR J13 0-6-0. Now I am not into GNR/LNER locos so had to do some research: The J13 was a small class of 6 locos built 1n 1888-9 for the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (later part of the Great Central). The last one was withdrawn in 1935! Perhaps they mean the GNR J3. These did at least make it into BR ownership. The last one was withdrawn in 1954! It doesn't look as if this is going to be a highly detailed model. Discount price from Kernow Models is quoted at £37 fitted with a DCC decoder! They have also anounced a J83 tank, but again given the price quoted by Kernow, £37, it would seem that this is just a reissue of their old model. The rest of the new announcements are limited editions or new liveries. This really does look like spoiling tactic from Hornby. I will be far more interested in what Bachmann have to offer! Best wishes, John H-T. |

The J13 refers to the GNR classification. It is of course a reissue of the old J52 Ivatt Saddle tank so both are presumably for the Railraod Range, so nothing to get very excited about!
