In BR days the Rebuilt Scots ran in BR Green. None of the Scots ran in Crimson Lake in BR days. The only rebuilt Scot to run in Crimson Lake was 6170 British Legion which was the prototype for the rebuild from the High Pression experimental loco "Fury." When first rebuilt it had a single chimney. I do not know if it ran in double chimney form in Crimson Lake. It certainly did not gain smoke deflectors until BR days.
The livery now carried by Royal Scot was never worn by any rebuilt Scot other than British Legion in LMS or BR days. Best wishes, John H-T. |

Hi prm,
I have done a bit more research and found photos of 46121, 46127, 46128 and 46143 in lined black without smoke deflectors. Perhaps the most interesting was 46139 in lined LNER Green, again without deflectors. All had British Railways in full on the tender. My Brother in law lives near Burton so we are in the area quite often. Best wishes, John H-T. |
