Hello

Don't really understand why I'm interested in trains, always been there though. I hail from Wareham, Dorset - so remember the steam trains to Swanage. Now live in St Neots, I've been on a couple of trips with Railtours. I'm a very bad amateur photographer, so this gives me another subject.

Hello Countrybimkin, welcome to the railway Forum. Don't try to understand why you are interested in trains, just enjoy them. Don't worry about being a very bad amateur photographer, a lot of us are. We would rather see a poor photo than none at all. As you have probably seen in the gallery, there some on the forum who are very good photographers, and if you ask for help they will respond. I have learned a lot from them. Very few on the site have been footplate men but all have an interest in real or model railways. Just enjoy this new subject.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

My photos are far from the best, but you can't do a great deal with a compact digital camera! With a digital SLR and lots of time practising use of the functions, yes you could do as can be seen from photos from SalopianGrowler for example. Still, I enjoy the photos I take so that's the main thing!

No point trying to understand why you like trains, I've tried figuring out why I like them for years without coming up with much. I'd rather just go out and enjoy them though, which is why we're all on here with a variety of interests.

I look forward to seeing your photos one day!

Well I got a pretty cheap digital camera. But since i've had it i've realised it can do a lot of whacky things.
I find it difficult to realise why I'm a trainspotter too - probably all those years of watching thomas the tank!!!
