Just a line to introduce myself - 82 year old - ex HMS Conway boy (1942/3)
I am sure some of you will have known, or known of, W E PETO who was a cadet on the Conway with me . He died last August unbeknown to me. We had kept in touch all the intervening years. Until the turn of the century he produced the occasional Newsletter giving news of the doings of old boys of our time.
As many will know he was an expert on the GWR and was connected with the Didcot Railway Museum. He told me that he had a constant stream of letters and phone calls from all over the world on GWR matters. For 38 years he led a Scout troop in London.. He moved to the Midlands some years ago.
He was a great chap - a privilege to have known him.
May he rest in peace !
