I have just got back from a trip down to Cornwall including a stop over in the Youth Hostel at Oakhampton which is in the old Goods Shed at the Station. We went for a trip on the Dartmoor Railway to Meldon Viaduct where the current railhead ends, thumbnail attached. The Viaduct now has a cycle way across it.
Sadly the Dartmoor Railway is up for sale and its future is very uncertain. We were talking about the probable need to reroute the Dawlish section. Perhaps a high speed line would be a better option but it would be nice to see trains on the Oakhampton Route across the viaduct. |
