Northern Rail Rolling Stock

Northern Rail have said that they had planned to replace Pacers with Sprinters by 2011. However, with additional services being required on certain routes and tram-trains being built for a trial route, is it still likely that Pacers can be dispensed with by 2011?

The issue Northern would then have is the 150s will be approaching their 30th birthday, if they don't start planning to replace them, as soon as they've dispensed with Pacers.

The pacers will doubtless be replaced by the sprinters released, from brum, by 172s, also i suspect that they will try and keep the tram/trains on the penistone line beyond the 2 year trial

Apparently First Great Western have been promised enough 150s from London Overground and London Midland to replace all their Pacers. So it'll be up to Northern Rail and Arriva Trains Wales to fight over the rest.

I can't really see Northern getting any of them as i think ARRIVA TRAINS WALES WILL put up more money and refurbish them unlike Northern who will more than likley just paint them.

A gaurd told me on the trian the other day thqat Northern were the bigest load of BLEEP going and wont invest nothing in the rRailway and yes he was a Northern Rail Gaurd.

This is how i have drawn up this conclusion we should be getting new trains up here not More cast offs.

The northwest will always be shafted because HQ is in York. I was asked what I thought would make my station better?

I said Information boards for the passengers.

They said 'how about some carpet'.....I don't even have room for a hoover!....I rest my case.

I know at Rainhill there is not mutch stowage faciltyes as there is always a build up of boxes full of new tickets.

So prehaps your Station has a Simmler situation and prhaps they could buy some new trains if they cut down on the ammount of tickests stock they ordered as some get damp and have to be thrown away what a waste>

Northern (who run Rainhill) is changing its policy on ordering tickets to the extent that some stations get deliveries every year, some every month, depending on space being available but people can get it wrong. Or perhaps they are the WYPTE Day rover stock!!!!
