"Bigger, better stations, more tracks and longer platforms, electric-powered trains, reopened railway lines and fewer level crossings - all will help deliver more frequent, more comfortable, more reliable journeys and a safer, better-value railway for everyone," he said.
Great for the inner city commuters and the Northern hub, but what about the South West where Network Rail thinks that repairing the Dawlish seawall constitutes investment for the next five years. There is NO investment South and West of Newbury and Bristol where bus services are faster than the trains.
