Bluebell Railway extension opened
Today the Bluebell began operating services on its northern extension. Linking up with the main line at East Grinstead has been a dream since the society was established in 1960, and work to extend has been going on for some 40 years. The first public train south from East Grinstead was powered by the three locos which were the first arrivals on the line 53 years ago – A1X no.55 Stepney, P no.323 Bluebell and E4 no.473.

Fantastic achievement and a real credit to you all at the bluebell. You must all be so proud. I will get down there to see it myself (hopefully this year).
All the very best and thanks for the info and links Phil

What a marvellous achievement to open the line to East Grinstead considering the obstacle of a mountain of refuse that was in the way. Like Phil, I'll hopefully be paying a visit in the not too distant future. A big thank you to all concerned with the project
