Lightning strikes
On August the 21st 1958, two electric locomotives were struck by lightning at Guide Bridge station six miles from Manchester.
One of the locomotives hauling a Manchester to Sheffield train had stopped at the station, the other was a relief. Only minor damage was caused and no one was hurt. The train continued 15 minutes late after a new engine had been attached. 48111 |

I seem to remember a 310 being hit by lightning in the Wembley area. Apparently all mcb's tripped, and all the fuses blew, but no injuries thankfully.

So long as nothing inside explodes while somone's near.
Not a train, but house near me took a direct hit a few years ago. Hole in the roof, every electrical socket was blown out of the wall and a scar in the drive outside. Not funny, everyone in the road was in shock |
