On the site of the old North Eastern Railway station in Jesmond, Newcastle the old station has had an extended life courtsey of The Carriage Pub & The Valley Junction 397 Indian Restaurant.

The pictures were taken on a rainy day in 2009. Sadly the ex GER carriage (part of the Indian Restaurant in the old signal box) has been the victim of a graffiti attack about a month ago and is yet to be cleaned up

The Carriage public house is in the old station building and is well recommended and in my opinion one of the best pubs in Newcastle. the track is still used by Metro ECS workings.

Jesmond is still on the railway map, as when the Tyne & Wear Metro was built Jesmond station was rebuilt as the first underground station on the network, however the typically 1980's modular building does not have the same athestics as the old station!
