Hey guys, thought I'd say hello. My name's Mark and I'm from Caversham in Reading. I wouldn't class myself as a train enthusiast these days, not for a long time although I've always had an interest in the railway. I'm a photographer/local historian more interested in the engineering and architecture of it all. I have always been fascinated by the GWR, mainly the gorgeous blue brick embankments and structures crossing Reading. The scale of it captivates me. I just remember the large goods and marshalling yards before they were redeveloped.
With the new station plans in place, I fear that we may lose some of the heritage which made Reading important in the first place. My aim is to record the area for future historians. Had people done more of this in days gone by, my life would be much easier!
I notice there's a few people on here from the area, so be prepared for the barrage of questions!
