I wouldn't worry about having so called nerdy interests, everybody's interests are nerdy to someone. I enjoy railways and think to myself 'to hell with what others think, I have the company of many rail fans on this site'.
I have to admit to being surprised at how many Lady's are rail fans as well. On the trip to Milford Haven last month, there were just as many Lady's along the track, on the train and at stations as there were men. The knowledge of some them about the railways is as good as many men.
