Gotta say that there is a lot of sad news on tv.
At least there are no bullets and bombs flying here.
But, the torrential deluge continues up north of the border and is now invading south of the border.
Evacuation orders in place for many regions.
NO trains in south east Queensland due to the flooding.
The highways are also submerged.
The big fear now, when the water does recede, will them emu suburban trains go Flash Bang when raising a panto.
Stabling yards currently under water.
With a goodly fifth of the Gympie hovels drenched, I wonder how the Mary Valley Rattler mob have faired.
But, their soot belcher etc should be safe, the station and yard being up on a hill.
I would presume that their track would have suffered the same wash-outs as has the QR North Coast main line.
Thousands of people are stranded, some clinging to the rooves of their submerged hovels.
The SES mob was about to do a "Dunkirk" begging for any available boats to assist with the rescue efforts.
But, they decided against that, fearing idiots in big boats zooming around the streets causing more dramas.
Already, seven deaths have occurred due to people stupidly driving into flood waters.
With the worst flooding on record in the Lismore region of NSW, I also wonder about our first solar powered train.
OK, not much solar activity to power it, but that track is fairly low and flood prone in such exceptional conditions.
Will that train go flash bang when the sun does eventually make a return appearance at Byron bay.
