Hi all,

I have just joined the forum, so please be gentle with me. I guess I have always had an underlying interest in railways but since about May of this year my interest in all aspects of railways both old and new has really taken off. I spend some of my spare time photographing trains locally and hope to travel a bit further afield in the future.
I am also involved with the New Somerset and Dorset railway - our aims are to bring back trains on the old S&D route thus providing communities with the transport links that are so badly needed.
My nearest station is Branksome, on the Waterloo to Weymouth line and I spend time there when I can despite the almost complete lack of freight. Still Eastleigh is not far and Westbury is another favourite haunt - this being the nearest place to see the wonderful Class 43 HSTs that I love so much.
I look forward to posting on this forum and to making new friends.
