Thanks again for the reply, I have measured the back to back and it is very slightly less than you recomend but I am unsure how to rectify this without damaging the model, however , the problem seem to be more to do with the tender not moving up/down with any irregularity it the level of the track , it moves up then seems to lift the loco.
Not sure if I should open out the hole in the draw bar slightly.
