Best memory I have is of one of the double cabbed locomotives heading toward Galway city. I was on a camp site just outside of the town at the time, trying to stroke a particularly bad tempered donkey...and the train went past. Cue for the donkey to go psychotic and try to bite me!
As I say, I can recall seeing a group of CIE loco's in the distance in Cork, but at the time my mate and I were a bit preoccupied, having just found out that Cork pubs had to shut between 4 and 5 in the afternoon. And it was about a quarter to 4.
