Would you care to say why 47549 was your favourite?
Back in the late 70's / early 80's, very few people would admit being a fan of Class 47's / Brush type 4's. As I've never been someone to have flawed opinions forced upon themselves, I was one of the 1st to publicly & loudly proclaim my appreciation for BR's best diesels.

Encouraged by my lead, several others then came out of the closet & as a rule, chose named 47/4's from Old Oak Common as our pet loco's. My choice, 47510 Fair Rosamund was soon transferred to scotland as a push-pull 47/7.

Therefore, to be different, I then chose 47549 as it didn't carry a name. No great surprise to find that about 18 months later it was named Royal Mail & about 3 years later was transferred to scotland!

It's gone now, courtesy of a 'heavy shunt' at Peterborough. But I had great fun (& even more frustration) chasing it around the country.
