Good morning and a Happy Christmas

I have lots of interests, cars, commercials, motorcycles, anything with an engine really

Let's just say that I've always had an interest in steam, ever since as a boy I used to watch the saddle tank shunters in the goods yard at Longton station in Stoke - the Foley sidings - the sound and the smell will always be with me.

I daren't get too much involved with railways, I have little enough time already, what with working, gardening, decorating, building the odd garden feature, working on my small fleet of vehicles, but.....and this is the but.....as I grow older the trains are calling, and I can feel the interest building. My wife likes them as well, which helps.

I'm also into Series Land Rovers - in between vehicles at the moment, I sold my last 11A, but I've got an eye on the next rebuild. The connection is that I used to have a photo of a short wheel base 11A in British Rail colours - dark green I think - and I still have a photo of a station wagon liveried up as a a vehicle belonging to the Signals Dept. at Crewe, and I want to paint up my next Land Rover as a BR vehicle. Might get me a favoured parking space at the Churnet Vally line!

Anyone got photos showing Land Rovers in BR livery? Preferably in colour, as mine are black and white.

Anyway, I'm off to watch the Golden Age of Steam again on the BBC.

See you chaps.

Dave
