London gateway looks mighty impressive doesn't it ? Its not too easy to see the railhead on the attached but it looks to be the favoured method of moving containers to and from the port. I guess a few hundred thousand containers turning right and going through North London in addition to those from Felixtowe was always going to be too much for the available capacity hence the extra line at Ipswich as said above.
Does anyone know if some of these intermodal services from London Gateway will go down the crossrail line ?

According to the excellent film on the DP world web page its going to be the UK's busiest railfreight terminal. Its probably worth a separate thread in itself.
