HS2

I have just returned from tonights Sir Bob Reid Lecture in London given by Prof. Andrew MacNaughton - was anyone else there?
He gave a very good account on the reasons being presented to this Government as to why HS2 was necessary and the implications for UK plc if we got it wrong and failed to act. You can read it in the papers tomorrow (not in The Sun I dont suppose) to see what sort of a spin they put on it.
One thing bad about it was UK plc lack of carbon neutral power generation which made the overall justification for having HS2 a bit negative.
Look at your finger nails and notice the surface area on those eight digits - that is the exact same surface area upon which anywhere between 8K and 10K HP is resting in order to propel a 400 metre long train at close to 400 KPH. Makes you think dont it!!
