Hi LocoJoe,thanks for the interesting link to Deltic.Maybe I can put into the mix my recollections of the prototype when it made its debute from the English Electric works at NETHERTON near Aintree Liverpool and onto B R metals.As was the case in those days many factories& works had direct access to rail sidings such was the case at EE,their link crossed the road into Aintree yard.It then made its way via the then CLC branch line which ran from Aintree to Halewood where it joined the Liverpool Manchester main line.I was in the signal box at West Derby station when it came through going quite slow I might add, what a sight as it emerged from the bridge hole I think we were quite stunned.I clearly remember the colours just as shown inthe film.I cant recall where it went to possibly to Crewe or maybe to Edge Hill 8A shed where it did spend time working beteween Liverpool Lime Street & Euston .Just as a point of interest a road between the EE works & Aintree station is called DELTIC WAY,furthering my belief it was made at Netherton.
