I'm doing some research at the moment into the treatment of German and Austro-Hungarian nationals during the First World War. The vast majority of them, having been classed as "enemy aliens", ended up in two internment camps on the Isle of Man. I've come across a reference to a railway connection to one of the camps, and the way that the reference is worded it seems to imply that the connection was specially constructed.
It's perhaps a long shot, but does anyone have any other information? I'm guessing that the railway concerned was the IOMSR, as the two camps were situated at Knockaloe and Peel, although I could be wrong about the locations.
All information gratefully received.
